YouTube is designed for the masses and the wide variety of content the masses create - everything from the stuff we do to vacation videos, short videos shot on cell phones, cat videos, etc. For us, we’ve always wanted more control over that user experience - the ability to customize the player, customize the comment system, etc. That’s really the biggest reason [to launch our own platform] — we wanted to have more control over the way our audience interacts with our content.
For timing reasons, I wasn’t able to include this Freddie Wong quote in my GigaOM piece on Video Game High School being used to launch the Rocket Jump platform. But I liked it. So here it is.
