—PUNKADIDDLE’s Star Trek (2009) review is vicious. And after reading it I am still fond of the movie. But goddamn if he doesn’t make some fantastic points with much broader implications.

So, a personal note: the first new media party I was ever invited to was the finale party for Sam Has 7 Friends at Hollywood Billiards. It was December 2006, I had just started working at The Daily Reel (moment of awkward silence), and I didn’t go because I hadn’t seen the 79 episodes prior. Figured I’d have the chance to catch up eventually. If you’d told me it’d take two and a half years and two new jobs in between, I probably would have found it funny. Also, I was brand new in the space and was nervous about not knowing anybody there. It’s weird to remember feeling that way.
